About Kayla
EARLY DAYS
Kayla was born in Washington, D.C. and has always had a love for music and performing. Her Mom remembers her being able to hum before she could even speak, and decided to put her in piano classes. Kayla fell in love with piano, and decided that she also wanted to take violin lessons. In 4th grade, Kayla watched a teacher at her school play guitar at assembly and decided that she wanted to try a hand at that as well. Throughout lower to high school, Kayla took lessons for piano and violin and attempted to teach herself guitar. However, through it all, singing was always her #1 passion.
Kayla attended a conference where she performed at a talent show in front of 1000 people, only confirming what she already knew -- performing was what she was destined to do.

CURRENTLYKayla currently attends Loyola University New Orleans where she is pursuing her degree in Marketing and Music Industry Studies. In an effort to keep her dream alive while still being a full-time student, she has performed at open mic nights, music venues, and a music festival on campus. She presently has shows lined up for the semester, including a show at The Willow Bar, Loyola's first 3rd Friday celebration on campus, and The Neutral Ground. Kayla believes that this semester is the time to focus more on writing and recording, and letting people know exactly who she is.
Kayla has recently struggled with songwriting and finding her exact voice, but has taken the necessary steps to achieve her goal. She has taken a songwriting class taught by Billboard #1 songwriter Jim McCormick, Christina Aguilera's Master Class, and has closely studied entertainment and marketing techniques both successful and unsuccessful. She is hoping to regain her stride with the release of her first single 'Again'. |
INSPIRATIONSKayla is very strongly inspired by singer-songwriter Kehlani. She has spent time studying her story-telling techniques and stage presence; and continues to strive to collaborate with her one day. Other musical influences include Stevie Wonder, Rihanna, Tinashe, Chance the Rapper, Ariana Grande, and Bibi Bourelly.
